BSc in Mechanical Engineering (2022)
Hi, I'm Nahian Masud. Currently doing my MSc from Washington State University and working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University. My research is on CFD Simulation of Oscillating Hydrokinetic Turbine under the supervision of Dr. Chris Qin. It is a form of renewable energy. Previously, I conducted research and published multiple research articles on Microbial Fuel Cell, which is another form of renewable energy.I have completed my undergraduate from the Mechanical Engineering department of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), the most prestigious engineering institute in Bangladesh. I served as a Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Sonargaon University for 1 semester and worked as a Research Officer in a project of ICDDR,B.My undergraduate thesis is on thrust vectoring of a supersonic micronozzle using dsmcFoam+ solver, supervised by Prof. A.B.M. Toufique Hasan, ME, BUET. For the thesis purpose, we used the Macro-to-Micro scale Fluids Engineering Lab (MμFEL). I have also worked on a number of research projects on Microbial Fuel Cell with Dr. Mohammad Ali and Dr. Aman Uddin. Currently, I am working on thrust vectoring of micronozzle using the Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) approach with Prof. A.B.M. Toufique Hasan. Also, I am working on the development of electrode materials for a microbial fuel cell with Dr. Aman Uddin. My main focus is on Renewable Energy, Computational Fluid Dynamics, High-Speed Aerodynamics, and Molecular Gas Dynamics. I constantly concentrate my attention on learning new concepts, computational techniques, software, and programming languages in order to improve as a researcher and have an edge over my peers. As a young CFD scientist, I think we must put emphasis on solving the problems of fluid dynamics more accurately and efficiently using the DSMC method.
